What’s good for the environment is good for us
Over the last few years Waste Watch has been developing our programmes in order to create a robust evidence base for change that supports our ‘Waste less, Live more’ vision.
Today we’ve published our first set of social outcomes from across our diverse work programme in 2012. We are pleased to share how our environmentally focused projects additionally enable benefits to the wellbeing of people taking part.
The report exemplifies the evidence base that integrating pro-environmental understanding, values, and behaviours into our daily lives also has distinct benefits for our own wellbeing. We call upon other organisations to simulataneously monitor and celebrate both the environmental and social outcomes their work can enable.
"We created a community"
- Our Common Place, Golden Lane Community Partnership Group
This report is intended to provide an introduction to this work, highlight key results, and provide an insight to the practical application of monitoring wellbeing. Our learning’s are discussed and recommendations given for others interested in following a similar approach.
Recommendations are made to support organisations looking at measuring wellbeing and practical insights for building a monitoring and evaluation framework.
These include not only practical insights such as trialling your monitoring and evaluation first on a smaller scale, but also recommendations on the importance of capturing qualitative responses in order to enrich the data and explore unexpected outcomes.
“I have made a big improvement to my activity level and diet and as a result feel much healthier.”
